Aman New York opened in August 2022 in the historic Crown Building at Fifth Avenue and 57th Street, completing a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar renovation of the 1921 landmark. The hotel is the Aman chain's first major North American urban property, joining the brand's worldwide network of remote luxury resorts.

The 83 rooms are the defining feature — average 750 square feet, the largest of any NYC luxury hotel. Each features custom-designed furnishings sourced specifically for the property, working wood-burning fireplaces (rare in NYC), private balconies in many rooms, and bathrooms larger than entire rooms at other hotels.

The three-story spa is the second defining feature — 25-meter indoor pool, hammam, six treatment rooms, banya, full fitness facility. The spa alone occupies more square footage than most NYC hotels in total.

Other amenities include the Aman Club (a member-only social club within the hotel), three restaurants (Nama Japanese, Arva Italian, and Aman Bar Italian), a cigar room, and a jazz room. Service is the chain's hallmark — extremely high attention-to-detail, very high staff-to-guest ratio, very high prices.

Rates start at $3,000-3,500/night for standard rooms and rise to $25,000+ for the largest suites. For most travelers, Aman is aspirational rather than practical; for milestone occasions where the budget supports it, the property delivers on the chain's reputation.
